Why Margo West

The Alterations Specialist
Dallas Has Trusted for Decades

When your wedding dress doesn’t fit the way it should. Or when you want it to feel completely, uniquely yours. You need more than a seamstress. You need a couturier.

At Margo West Bridal Couture in Dallas’s Design District, we specialize in bridal alterations that go far beyond taking in a seam or hemming a hem. We do the transformations that other bridal shops and tailors won’t touch: structural redesigns, sleeve additions from scratch, complete silhouette changes, and complex lace or beading work.

Every appointment begins with a $100 consultation deposit applied directly toward your total alteration cost. It’s our way of ensuring you receive Margo’s undivided attention from the first stitch to the last fitting.

“We are dedicated to transforming gowns into works of art. So that every woman feels confident, radiant, and completely herself on her most unforgettable day.”

What We Alter

Every Type of Wedding Dress Alteration

From a simple hem to a complete structural transformation. If it can be done with couture-level craftsmanship, we do it.

Bodice & Fit Alterations

Taking in or letting out at the bodice, waist, and hips. Reshaping seams for a precise, custom fit. Adjusting boning and structure for all-day comfort without sacrificing silhouette.

Hemming & Bustle Work

Cathedral, chapel, and floor-length hemming with invisible finishes. French bustles, American bustles, and custom bustle designs that move beautifully all night long.

Sleeve Additions & Removal

Adding illusion sleeves, detachable lace sleeves, cap sleeves, or full sleeves to any gown. Removing sleeves to create a new silhouette. Built from scratch to perfectly match your gown’s fabric and lace.

Beading & Lace Work

Matching and extending lace patterns, adding beaded appliqués, hand-sewing crystal detailing, and replicating existing embellishments across new fabric panels. Couture-level precision only.

Train Additions & Modifications

Adding a cathedral or chapel train to a gown that didn’t come with one. Converting a full train to a detachable style for the reception. Altering the shape or length of an existing train.

Structural Redesigns

Complete silhouette transformations. Converting a ballgown to a fit-and-flare, adding a second look reception skirt, restructuring a strapless bodice, or dramatically changing the back design. The work other designers won’t attempt.

The Process

From First Fitting to Final Touch

Every bridal alteration at Margo West follows a careful, collaborative process built around you. Not a checklist.

1

Consultation

$100 deposit. Margo assesses your gown, discusses your vision, and outlines exactly what’s possible. Quote provided at this appointment.

2

First Fitting

Measurements taken. Pinning and marking the exact alterations. Bring your wedding shoes and any shapewear you plan to wear.

3

Couture Work

The artistry happens here. Every stitch placed with precision. Complex work like sleeves, beading, or structural changes handled by Margo personally.

4

Second Fitting

You try the gown on the altered version. Refinements made. Any last adjustments confirmed and completed.

5

Final Pickup

Your gown is pressed, protected, and ready. Final fitting 2–4 weeks before your wedding date. Everything perfect.

We recommend scheduling your first consultation 4–6 months before your wedding date. Rush timelines available. Call (972) 918-9750 to discuss.

Behind-the-Seams

The Work Behind Every Gown

Every gown that leaves the studio passes through Margo’s hands. Pinned by hand, structured stitch by stitch, and finished with the same care a couture house gives a runway piece.

Quite a lot. We regularly handle: complete silhouette redesigns, adding custom sleeves from scratch, converting strapless gowns, restructuring bodices, adding trains to gowns that didn’t have one, complex lace matching, and full second-look reception skirt additions. If other Dallas bridal shops or tailors have turned you away, call us. We love a challenge.
Yes. We alter gowns from any source. Online retailers, department stores, international designers, vintage finds, and heirloom dresses. Our expertise is in the craftsmanship, not where the gown came from. Bring your dress, your shoes, and your undergarments to your first fitting.
Margo West Bridal Couture is at 1403 Slocum Street, Suite 103, Dallas, TX 75207 in the heart of the Dallas Design District. Hours are Mon–Fri 9am–5pm and Sat–Sun 11am–5pm. All appointments require a booking. Call (972) 918-9750 to schedule.
Bring your wedding gown (in its bag), the shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day, and any shapewear or undergarments you’ll be wearing. If you have inspiration photos of changes you’d like. Sleeves, a different back, anything. Bring those too. The more we know, the better your consultation will go.
